There have been so many excuses used for not getting our act in gear and getting over to the Isle of Mull. A big one was wanting to go outwith the tourist season but up until now, there was a real issue getting accommodation. So I thought I was setting Steve a mission impossible when I said I wanted to go for my birthday. But the boy came up trumps when he found Cill Mhoire Lodges in Dervaig 😃
Having a birthday in February means you really are in the hands of the weather gods. This birthday was no exception but the weather gods had decided to give me the present of Storm Erik. It certainly made the ferry crossing entertaining but at least we got there.
While the initial plan for the weekend might have been Ben More and possibly the Corbett Dun da Ghaoithe, those ideas were quickly binned in favour of exploring the islands beaches and otter spotting. There are certainly plenty of beaches to chose from around the island and many within very short distance of where we were staying.
It may not have been the weekend we planned but it certainly went beyond our expectations despite no otters. We really do want to go back and get out in the hills, not just the obvious Munro and Corbett. But, we will still want to do this off season............. we're too selfish to share it with too many tourists!!
